Pomaria School Enrolment Scheme
The Ministry of Education has placed an enrolment scheme on Pomaria School, which will come into effect from the beginning of term 2 (2023). Having an enrolment scheme in place will ensure the Board of Trustees has a fair and transparent mechanism to manage roll growth. Learners that live within this area will have automatic entitlement to enrol at Pomaria School. The home zone area is shown on the map below.
Music at School
Music activities include singing, assembly performances, body percussion, movement, dancing, speech, ukulele, percussion instruments, bucket drumming, songwriting and studio recording. Music is fundamental to the culture and community of our school.
Our 300 metre bike track is part of our health program. Learners have the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike, build their confidence and learn road safety skills. Bike sessions develop balance and muscle tone and guarantee fun.
Fruit in Schools
Pomaria is part of the Fruit in Schools programme which encourages children to eat more fruit and vegetables and to adopt healthier lifestyles. Every day seasonal fruit is delivered to classrooms for Learners to try.
We have a dedicated Lego room where Learners can let their creativity and building skills shine. Lego develops social skills, problem solving, perseverance, fine motor skills and can reduce anxiety.
We are fortunate to have a breakfast club that runs three times a week, i.e Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The breakfast club is run by volunteers from local churches in Henderson. Fonterra and Sanitarium provide and deliver the mil and Sanitarium Weet-Bix.
Kiwi Can is an energy-packed primary school programme. It teaches values such as integrity and respect, helps build resilience and delivers fun-filled learning. Weekly Kiwi Can lessons are a highlight with the Learners.
Listen to Pomaria 88.2 FM every lunch time as our learners have a korero sharing their lives, learning and laughs. This space doubles as a recording studio for creating podcasts and recording music.
